Devil Dance and competition

Although unknown in ancient Mexico, devils are part of festivities in many regions of the country. Smiling, friendly and entertaining devils are also common. Shown here are participants in the  competition called 'masquerade of the devils'  (Mojiganga de los diablos), held yearly on September 16th in the village of Teloloapan, Guerrero.  Prizes are given for the most impressive mask and the best performance.
