Josefina Aguilar (Ocotlan, Oaxaca, Mexico), Woman with watermelon and dog, 1997. Painted clay, 27 x 14 x 10 cm. Private collection.

Standing proud with necklace and earrings, and braids pulled to a knot on top of the head, she carries a dog in the right hand. In the left she has a watermelon which has been cut and on the arm, a shopping basket. The white blouse is embroidered flowers. The blue skirt  has an elaborate pattern of orange and dark-blue flowers and red circles with white centers.
